Silly Faces

Oh the silly things we make our babies do! Kaya is all about the exagerated faces these days. When she was eating a snack earlier this week I asked her to show me her sad face, and then her happy face. After that, it was back to the corn! Being a baby is a tough job!

She has a very silly smile these days too as seen here:

And sometimes she just doesn't know what to do with those eyes of hers when she's smiling and it looks like this (believe me, this is the best video of the three!):

Quite the Nurturer

Kaya is very into pretend play these days, and a lot of her pretend play revolves around her kitchen.

One afternoon last week she went around feeding everyone the pasta she'd made!

The pony prefers carrots to pasta.

Kaya's favorite doll Furnis loves to be fed!

Why not feed the bear rocker?

Naomi isn't so sure of Kaya's cooking skills.

...but she'd LOVE to have that dog cookie!

Ponytail

Kaya's hair is finally growing, and it's starting to grow fast! She has enough hair for a ponytail now... kind of!

Don't worry, we won't let her leave the house like that!

Rainy Day Videos

Yesterday was a rainy day, so other than going to playgroup in the morning, we spent a lot of time inside. Kaya has been getting into make-believe play lately and she was playing so nicely with her baby (my old baby!).

Here are two dark videos for your enjoyment!

Lions, and Tigers, and Bears

Our favorite zoo has a lion and two tigers, but the zoo we went to yesterday has bears!

The bears just arrived last weekend and they have a fabulous home. They are both so playful and came up to Kaya as soon as she approached the glass. This bear here was giving her high fives and just kept coming back to play some more. Fun fun!

18 Months Old Already!

A week ago we celebrated Kaya's 18mo birthday with some close friends and family. Kaya really enjoyed the day and having so many people in her house!

She also enjoyed her first taste of cake... chocolate cake!

Just like in the last post, she likes to eat with her fork, (or hold her fork and eat with her hands as in this picture), but she's a very dainty and clean girl.

This is how she looked after she was done! Really, chocolate cake and a face that barely had to be washed!

Hand/Eye Coordination

Things are settling down a bit here. I'm just about to finish my term as president of our local MOMS Club. Kaya's Kloset is doing well, and I'm enough ahead that I'm not spending every free moment sewing shoes. Kaya and Buddy play nicely together most of the time. Now it's time to start posting pictures again!

Kaya is getting to be such a toddler! Not a baby any more. She colors:

She eats her curry with a fork like a big girl:

...and it even gets into her mouth!

Later on this week I'll be back with pictures of her first half birthday party!

Zippers!

Kaya has been getting very good at manipulating zippers lately... especially down! This is how she looked when I went in to get her Tuesday morning:

Boy is she proud!

The Aquarium

Kaya and I went to the aquarium last week and had a blast! The New England Aquarium has a large tank in the middle and a spiraling walkway around it. Different creatures live at every level and there are huge windows for ample exploration!

That's a big fish!

A turtle pic for Daddy.

The little tanks around the periphery were a bit more Kaya's size.

We can't wait to go to the Aquarium again!

A Dress!

Every once in a while Kaya can be caught in a dress... Sunday was one of those days:

...and yes, she is finally walking!

Kaya's daddy was just as handsome as Kaya was pretty!
